Victorian Village of Ferndale, California 95536
The Gingerbread Mansion
Originally known as The Ring House, named after its first owner, a respected Norwegian physician who served Ferndale for decades.
One of the West Coast's most famous historic properties located within a small, coastal, dairy village that itself has always been known for producing the finest cream and butter in all of California. Because San Francisco demanded only the finest dairy products, and only those shipped from the village's premier dairies, Ferndale's most extravagant 19th Century homes became known as "Butterfat Palaces."
The Ring House, more recently known as The Gingerbread Mansion Bed and Breakfast Inn, is one of California's most photographed and published historic homes.
