FEATURING OSCEOLA FUN AND SNOW CAPITAL

The Original Osceola Store

Built in 1862, it reflects the Historical richness of the Tug Hill area and was the hub of activity in the bustling 4-corners of Osceola until its closing .

The first floor has a total of 2,000 sq. ft. of open floor space that can be used for display or additional partitions can be installed. It also contains a full bath, bedroom with closet, kitchen area and laundry hook-up. The second floor apartment has 1450 sq. ft. of living space that includes 4 bedrooms, full bath, kitchen with new appliances and cabinets, a keeping room, dining room and living room, which has a chimney and hearth for a free standing stove or gas log. The original antique electrical fixtures have been refurbished and rewired. There is also a 550 sq. ft. bunk room newly finished.

Across the street is the Outpost, a small general store with eating area serving excellent food. It has gas pumps used by local residents, snowmobilers, and four wheelers. The world famous Osceola Hotel is on the opposite corner. Three hundred yards south is the Salmon River, which runs directly to the Salmon River Reservoir. One can kayak or canoe all the way down the beautiful reservoir. It is also an excellent trout stream. The pristine water is ideal for swimming and there are many uninhabited islands to camp on.

There are numerous camps and vacation homes in the area, a church an community center. A few miles to the east is the Osceola Tug Hill Cross Country Ski Center, which has been used for the Empire State Games and frequently used by major college and Nordic Ski Teams. Further east is Snow Ridge Ski Center at Turin, Old Forge, McCauley Mountain, Woods Valley Ski Center and numerous other activities associated with the Central Adirondacks. Also the Village of Boonville, the home of the Oneida County Fair and Woodsman’s Field Days (well known to the forest industry thoughout the northeast) North of Osceola is the Tug Hill Plateau, known for all types of recreation. It is the home of the N.Y.S. Old Time Fiddlers Hall of Fame. It offers great entertainment– Charlie Daniels has been in concert there for the past several years. Tug Hill is well known for its excellent fishing and hunting. It has the greatest amount of snow anywhere east of the Rockies (391” in 2002), ideal for snowmobiles.
