The O'Dwyer-Weeks house underwent an extensive restoration from 2000-2005.

This 1927 Tudor Revival home was likely based on house plans featured by the Bungalowcraft Company of California. The layout is nearly identical. The home was built by the O'Dwyer family of Texarkana who were co-owners in the downtown dry-goods store, O'Dwyer & Ahern.

Throughout this thoughtful and loving restoration care was given to the smallest detail. Period appropriate paint colors were selected by Michigan Professor of Architectural History and noted author/Bungalow/Revival paint specialist Robert Schweitzer, author of "Bungalow Colors".

A radius-top wooden door provides the official entry into the Tudor Revival cottage. The formal living room boasts narrow windows that flank the sides of the fireplace mantel as well as the typical narrow vertical windows framing the front facade of the home.

Wonderful windows provide light and showcase a diamond patterned upper window sash. The dining room also boasts more decorative crown molding as in the formal living room.

Elegant French Doors provide a transition between the formal living room and the dining area. A swinging door also expertly partitions the cooking/eat-in kitchen and original butler's pantry from the dining room.

The kitchen features built-in appliances to preserve the period look of the space and to complement the look of the original butler's pantry. Restored period lighting, push button switches, subway tiles, granite countertops and other special touches bring charm and warmth to this wonderful room.

Wonderful 1949 Maytag Dutch Oven, with owner's manual. Oven features 3 gas burners + well. Wonderful stove maintains true temperature. Well great for steaming, deep frying & slow cooking. Lots of neat recipes in owner's manual. Stained glass features transom type movement for right pane that provides unique view toward laundry/office area.

Butler's Pantry in eat-in kitchen area boasts original bin pulls and ball tipped cabinet hinges. Spacious storage with updated glass shelving and lighting to display your prized antiques, china and stemware!

Wonderful eat-in kitchen area directly opposite the original butler's pantry. Swinging pass-thru door provides easy access to formal dining.

Wonderful, bright and cheery guest bedroom. Hardwood floors, restored antique lighting and Tudor-styled windows bring lots of light in to this welcoming room.

Front bedroom features lots of light from 3 Tudor-style narrow casement windows and additional large double hung windows. Period light fixture original to the home.

Master bath features tumbled marble tile, period claw foot bath tub with hand-held shower fixture in brushed nickel, artwork featuring homeowner's honeymoon to southern Italy; images from Positano and Ravelo. Period wall-mount toilet, custom vanity, pressed glass French art-deco hanging fixture, textured plaster walls make this room an oasis.

Award-winning Texarkana artist CJ Holmes created a muralscape in the master bath feature wall that reflected the homeowner's Italian honeymoon. Statues are recreated to the right of the grand window with mural scenes to the left of the window showcasing a church rooftop viewed by the honeymooner's who lodged at a nearby hotel in Positano, Italy.

Oval mirror, oval carvings on cabinet doors of vanity all echo the oval shape of the 1920's era cast iron claw foot bathtub. Push button light switch with dimmer feature to set the ideal mood for a long relaxing soak!

Unique buffet repurposed as master bath vanity.

Historic Texarkana Country Club
TCC's cherished history includes golfing legend Byron Nelson who served as Club Professional in 1934 prior to his outstanding career on the PGA Tour. Mr. Nelson would always practice on the TCC course prior to the Masters tournament referring to it as “little Augusta” due to the many similarities between the courses. Don Murphy served next as Club Professional for 41 years and was instrumental in developing many players, the most famous being Miller Barber. As of 2010, eight players from TCC have been inducted into the Arkansas Golf Hall of Fame -- the most from any golf club in the state!
The beautiful Perot theatre has been a landmark in Texarkana since 1924 when it opened as the Saenger's Gateway to the West theatre. Native son H. Ross Perot, thorugh his foundation, contributed much of the restoration costs in memory of his parents. The city, as a thank you, named the theatre in honor of the Perot family.
