This historic home has been a hotel and a restaurant, both locally well-known. A local senator built the house after seeing one like it on a trip to Virginia around the turn of the century. Senator Watson went to Louisville to find an architect who could design it. He and his wife lived in a house next door to this one. She died before the house was completed, but the Senator and his butler moved into the new house.
Many local couples were married in this house, and several well-known people dined here in the 1940's. It was an elegant restaurant in its day.
The house has been nominated to be on the Historic Register and has scored an "outstanding".
Charlestown is a small town located about 15 minutes from Louisville, Ky. It has the small town charm, yet all the conveniences of the city are within a few minutes drive.
