This 1888 home was built by Walter Butler, an engineer on the Bear Valley Dam. It is designed in the Queen Anne Style with Gothic influence. This Victorian home supports five gables with decorative fish scale siding. The porch has been restored with new railings and spandrels. High Style Victorian double doors enter into the study of the front porch.
Period stained glass windows have been installed throughout the home. Some are redesigned to fit spaces by master stained glass craftsman Tom Madlicott. The home has been carefully restored to the era with painstaking concentration put on refinishing the front staircase and wainscoting in this elaborate foyer.
The home also features curved walls which is a unique design element of the era. The back parlor woodwork has also been restored including an original fireplace mantle and built in cabinet. Walls have been sound proofed and insulated. Front parlor has pocket doors and a large curved wall with 6 feet long windows with original wavy glass.
Beautiful views out both parlors look onto lush greenery from the side lot that has been designed with water tolerate plants and greenery including a drip system. The original bead board was found under paneling. New waterproof flooring and a galley kitchen are all set for you to design your own custom kitchen.
The formal dining room opens onto the study with period arches slag glass windows from a church in Pennsylvania. Main floor bathroom has a antique Pullman sink and stone pebbles for flooring/shower.
Upstairs features three bedrooms and a custom built library with antique elements used throughout the design. The home lot is approximately 50X175.
The home is listed by the City as a duplex but is currently a single family home. Two gas meters, two electric meters, two hot water heaters and two central air units. Kitchen in upstairs unit needs to be re installed.
