Home history and additional information
This rare example of Steamboat Gothic Victorian architecture was built in 1887 by Wiley Williams, the local collector of revenue and son of one Pensacola’s leading mill owners. The home gets is name from the bow veranda that wraps around the front much like the deck of a paddle-wheel riverboat. In 1928, the Methodist Church next door caught fire and burned the original high-gabled roof and second floor off the home. It was rebuilt with some bungalow features. This home was built to last—all walls, floors and ceilings were constructed using premium heart pine. The 2788 sq. foot home has one floor with two large bedrooms, five fireplaces, and two newly restored bathrooms, one with a clawfoot tub. It features a beautiful parlor with original lighting fixtures, a formal dining room with original chandelier, an oversized but cozy living room, a renovated kitchen with all new appliances, a large Butler’s pantry, a big remodeled laundry room, and a sunroom complete with a southern ’sleeping porch’ bedroom. The home has over 25 large, sunny windows, magnificent 12 foot ceilings, and many original details.
The main house is astounding on its own, but its value expands outside as well. The matching garage is a newly remodeled two story gem. The first floor has a spacious two car garage as well as every man’s dream, a large workshop. This room would be great for an office also. The second story has an adorable, bright studio apartment built in 2007 (447sq ft). It has a full efficiency kitchen, full bath, heart pine floors, and comes partially furnished. The main house and remodeled garage with apartment sit on over a half acre of property.
Other amenities include central heat/AC, updated plumbing and electrical, new roof, exterior and interior newly painted, security system, fully irrigated, professional landscaping, and termite bond insured.
