More About These Buildings
Buildings 4 and 7 were part of the historical Officers Quarters at the Brighton Marine Health Center campus (BHMC) that was opened in 1940. It was originally known as the United States Public Health Services Hospital and it played a significant role in furthering public health services during the 20th century. Designed by Louis A. Simon, the Supervising Architect for the U.S. Treasury, they boast timeless red brick masonry and Georgian Revival-style finishes. Buildings 4 and 7 were listed for sale at $1.00 each with the understanding that the purchaser(s) would relocate the structures off-property in a timely manner at their own expense. BHMC contributed $34,000 towards to costs of moving each building. The buildings must be moved in accordance with the National Park Service's guidelines for moving historic structures, and relocated by a moving company with demonstrated experience moving historic buildings.
