This Craftsman Country Home was designed by Kirtland Cutter for Lewis P. Larson, the founder of Metaline Falls in 1910. Cutter was known for Spokane's Davenport Hotel, Seattle's Rainier Club, and the Mcdonald Lodge in Glacier Park, but best known for his Craftsman Bungalows throughout the northwest.
Cutter liked building on hillsides. The front of the house faces south forming a backdrop to the beautifully landscaped gardens with fountain and pond. It conceals the 3-story north elevation, completely faced with rock from the area. The facade is a combination of wooden shakes and cobblestone.
5 BR, 2 Bath home includes finished basement with den, laundry, outside entrance. The Carriage House was converted to a Guest House designed by local architect, Dennis Sweeney. The Guest House was awarded "Best Remodel of 2001" by the Spokesman Review. The square footage, BR and Baths do not include the Guest House.
An oversized garage (800 sf)includes 1/2 bath, and workshop. A rooftop deck (over garage) provides space for entertaining amongst the container plants, and overlooks the Town of Metaline Falls.
