Although this quality home was built in 1910 it was way ahead of it's time. This home has one of the very first whole house vacuum systems, closet lights that turn on when the doors open, an intercom to the garage from the main house and buzzers from each room into the kitchen. There is also a camera obscura feature in the French door in the dining room that acts much as a camera lens that when the room is darkened this "lens" projects onto the opposite wall. It was useful to watch the passersby on the promenade in the adjacent park in private. So much thought went into this home anticipating every need...the positioning of the portico to provide a cool, scenic respite during the hot summers and the conservatory situated on the south side to take advantage of the winter sunlight. Two species of wood is used in each room and there is custom designed and silkscreened wallpaper and custom flooring to match the wallpaper in the his and her closets in the master suite. For ultimate privacy, the house was designed so that you never need to go into the main hall upstairs to move from room to room. All the bedrooms on the second floor all have some type of connection either an adjoining bath or large walk-in closet. Attention to detail was not limited to the house, the large grounds also featured a walkway with fountain leading to the large in-ground pool, a shuffleboard court, rare specimen trees and all kinds of perennial plantings.
