Alexander Platt House

Gorgeous 1872 home built by the original owner, Alexander Platt, who was a brick mason, contractor, builder and a Colonel in the Civil War. In March, 1889, a fire destroyed the roof and attic of the house, as well as the woodwork and part of the floor to the second story. The first story did not have much damage. Mr. Platt began rebuilding almost immediately. This seems to be the reason for the Queen Anne style of the second floor and the Italianate style of the first floor.
