Featherston PlaceWelcome to Featherston Place, a stunning historic home built in 1837 in the Greek Revival style. From the large front portico, step inside to the grand foyer where you will be greeted with soaring ceilings and antique hardwood floors. To the right and left of the foyer, you will find a formal living room and a den with plenty of space to entertain your guests. Down the back hall, you will find all 3 bedrooms and the first of 2 bathrooms. Each room has a fireplace. At the top of the staircase, you can enjoy a lazy afternoon in the abundant light of the first of two sunrooms. Down the stairs, you will find a large kitchen space with an eat-in breakfast area and a fireplace. The custom kitchen cabinets were made by the Pennsylvania Amish. Across the hall, there is even more living space with a formal dining room and a large bonus room, each with its own impressive fireplace. Additionally, you will find the second sunroom, a large utility room for laundry and storage as well as the second bathroom. After building a log cabin on the site in 1834, Alexander C. McEwen, one of the earliest settlers in Marshall County and the man who gave Holly Springs its name, built Featherston Place 1837. In 1902, Featherston was renovated by architect Theodore Link, the designer of the Mississippi State Capitol. Link added Georgian architectural features to the home to complement neighboring Polk Place, which Featherston Place shares a circular driveway with. His design enclosed the lower level and added additional porches and a sunroom. A detached house with 2 rooms and a kitchen could be restored into a rental property or mother-in-law suite. There is a 2-car carport attached to the second house, with an entrance off Johnson Park. Featherston Place has been home to many families throughout the years and it has been lovingly restored to its former beauty since 2020. Located in the heart of Holly Springs, this historic home represents a piece of local history. |
