Old Alabama farmhouse.Three-story Queen Anne Victorian, built in 1906. About 5,000-plus square feet on four acres. The cavernous third floor attic is huge ....but the steep staircase makes it dicey to get up there safely! There are parquet floors in some rooms, 12-foot ceilings, original plaster, marble mantels, pocket doors, double parlors, plus a large country kitchen with a brick fireplace. There are 6 bedrooms and 3 baths. And a three-stall horse barn with fenced pasture. A giant and ancient magnolia tree covers the front porch with huge and fragrant white blossoms every spring and summer. Beautiful red-bud trees fill the front yard with blazing color in the late spring. And white narcissus carpet the same beautiful yard every spring with delicate and fragrant white flowers. Train horns can be soothing and romantic. Slow-moving local freight trains dawdle up and down these tracks twice a day. They're great fun to watch! And it's delightful to hear their romantic-sounding horns and their cacophonous bells and whistles as they rumble past this old farmhouse, proudly tooting up a storm! |
