Convenient to everything!

This home is on historic South Market St ( formerly called " Lawyers Row") in Marion Il, the fastest growing community in Southern Illinois. Everything of a large community with a small town feel. This home is just down the sidewalk from the exquisite Carnegie Library and the new Marion Cultural Civic Center that seats over 1000. Marion has an unusual amount of community theater companies for kids and adults. Marion is also building a multi million dollar community athletic center with indoor pool walking distance from South Market.

Drive across town ( 5 mins) to Dillards, Target, Sears and multiple other fine shopping and any restaurant you can you can think of, from Red Lobster to award winning privately owned 17th St BBQ just down the street from the newly constructed Miner's ball park which is host to summer concerts as well as a winning minor league baseball team. S. I U. is in Carbondale just 20 minutes away!

Hunting and fishing are abundant with Crab Orchard Lake and the 270,000 acre Shawnee National Forest. The region is brimming with hiking opportunities and numerous outdoor experiences.

We are also wine country to Illinois as there are over 20 wineries including Walker's Bluff who brought in this summer Charlie Daniels Band and Sherly Crow.
This home was owned by Illinois Supreme Court Justice Judge W.W. Duncan in 1904. At the time it was considered a cottage with the servant quarters in the upstairs back. That has since been converted to a large master on suite with a separate shower and whirlpool tub . The suite has a large his closet and exta large semi walk in her closet. There are two other large bedrooms( with knee walls )upstairs, each with a walk in closet. They share a hall bath with shower.

Downstairs are two other bedrooms used now as his and her dens. The livng room with a double mantel remote gas burning fireplace is right off the dining room through the huge pocket door. Down the hall is the oversized original clawfoot tub in the full bath just off the keeping area of the extra large country kitchen with butlers pantry/ eating nook to the side ,adjacent to the dining room.

The home has a wonderful flow for guests as they mingle in the kitchen/ keeping room , circle around through the dining room to living room and parlor that opens to a 12 ft entry. It is truly a beautiful home that is just the right size ( 3100 sq ft on the upper two floors). The additional sq footage is in the basement that has an outside entrance and a very large work out room with home gym equipment staying.
