Architectural Character.

Chestertown, MD

This fine example of late Victorian is a true survivor of the Belle Epoque - an inviting grand old lady of taste and charm. Built in a restrained style indicative of late-19th century Queen Anne and Colonial Revivalism overtones, 209 Washington Avenue’s interiors are remarkably tailored and classic, evident in the pocket doors, beveled wainscoting, fluted fireplace surrounds, and sweeping staircase. Five charming bedrooms each offer surprises, from hummingbird-shaped pulls on ceiling fans to overstuffed window seats overlooking the landscaped lawns. A large, modern kitchen is the most notable of many updated features, which also include a restored claw-and-ball soaking tub where one can muse or read a good novel in utter peace.
