Albert and Bessie Johnson came to love Death Valley after investing in a non-existant gold mine with conman Walter "Scotty" Scott. Today, nearly all the clothing, curtains, carpets and furniture are original to the Johnsons and Scotty, which makes it easy to connect to their experiences here.
