Old World charm

This lovely Farmhouse set on almost an acre of private, picturesque property less than 50 miles north of New York City is believed to have been there during the Revolutionary War. It is thought to have been part of a 143 acre farm which fronted on Long Pond and was once owned by Roger and Mary Morris. Mary Morris was the daughter of Frederick Philipse III, and George Washington's first love. In 1782, the entire 143 acres was forfeited to a member of the Dutchess County Militia, John Crab, and all that remains of the original farm is part of the farmhouse. Features include a large living room with exposed wood beams and floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace, dining room with wide plank floors, large master bedroom with its own stone fireplace, wraparound porch, hand painted murals from Civil War itinerant painters. Fishing, swimming and boating from a private dock on Long Pond.
