This home is authentic and unspoiled, and a unique example of Revolutionary War Period architecture. The original section was built in 1773 by Colonel John Hathorn, leader of the Warwick militia. It is reputed that both George and Martha Washington were guests of the Hathorns. There is a shallow dug well in the basement that provided water during times when it was unsafe to venture beyond the two foot thick walls of the original home.
The later portion, c.1840, more than doubled the size of the home and includes a large country kitchen with fireplace and dutch doors.
The home is structurally sound, the details are intact, and it is ready to be restored to its original glory as one of Warwick's finest and most prominent homes.
The property is within walking distance of the historic Village of Warwick and overlooks acres of preserved farmland. It is only a one hour drive to New York City, and in walking distance to the commuter bus stop,shopping,and country club.
