1847 Antebellum
The stately 1847 antebellum home is most unusual in that many of its outbuildings and structures still remain among the flowering shrubs and trees for which it is named. A 2-room kitchen, a smokehouse, a barn, a carriage house, a Doric columned gazebo, a pond and 3 wells remain from the 19th century. The double parlors, the plaster crown moldings and medallions are the only remaining period examples in the area. Stained glass was installed in the front doors, sidelights and transom around 1912, when Tiffany glass was installed in the Aberdeen First United Methodist Church by the same craftsman.
A renovation was done from 1939 – 1940, by architect Welby N. Pugin of Nashville, TN, which only added to the structural integrity and livability of the home today.
Many of the furnishings are for sale.
