The home was built in 1854 by Asa Rowe, founder of one of the local towns and one of the first nurseryman of the area. The architect was famed architect Merwin Austin. Both men can be found on the internet.


There are 4 one bedroom apartments in the main front part of the home. The tenants enter through the front door foyer. Each apartment has two entrances, one in the living room and one in the kitchen, off the main hallway. The apartments have large living rooms, bedrooms, eat-in kitchens and full baths. they are all cable ready. The owners rent out three of the apartments at $450/month excluding utilities. The fourth they keep empty for visiting guests.

The apartments have separate heat, electrical and hot water tanks. The heat is propane for the apartments as well as the hot water tanks. All are separated. There are 6 meters for each section of the home.

The owner occupied area of the home off the back of the house is primarily heated by the wood stove. The second story is propane, the first floor is oil and wood stove or can be propane as well.

This property has an amazing attic. Large, with the widow's walk in the center providing light. The attic is an open space, one room, no walls. Frieze windows are located at the floor of the attic. It has brick walls. It is tall enough to walk in standing upright.

The basement is a full basement with 8 ft high ceilings. Many rooms with dirt or cement floors. Is dry!!

Home is on well and has septic.
This very foundationally sound home is 6000 sq. ft. The main living apartment is 3000 sq. ft. with 4 bedrooms, 3 full baths, 2 kitchens, mudroom, 1st floor laundry room, master bedroom with walk-in closet. Large dining room with fireplace and original 1854 windows and doors. Main house also has attached carport with office. This main part of the home is heated either by propane gas, oil or large wood stove that heats entire bottom portion on the house. The 2 story back portion of the home is connected by the original servant's stairway in the wall connecting the two floors.

Home is approved for State, Local and Historical status but is NOT designated at this time.

The four one bedroom apartments in the front main part of the home consist of a bedroom, living room, eat-in kitchen (with appliances), and full bath. The apartments each have separate heat, electric and hot water tanks. The apartments are heated by propane gas.

The home has everything original. Walls have been paneled in the 60's with dropped ceilings but all original walls and ceilings with medallions in them are still here. The foyer has the original stairway with the medallions in the ceilings. All shutters are here stored in the attic. All windows have shutters. They are original wood. All windows in the main portion of the home and doors are original. Windows in the back part of the house have been changed but remain the same original size. There are storm windows on all windows. No lentels have been changed. Every room has a fireplace and the original pocket doors are here just all dry walled over.

The attic is tall enough to stand in and wide open with brick walls. It is the entire portion of the front part of the home with the stairs to the cupola directly in the center. The cupola has the original windows with cornices.

The basement has many rooms divided by brick and stone walls. It is tall enough to walk in and the ceiling joists have only 10in. between them .

The home was built by the founding father of Greece, NY, Asa Rowe. He was one of the first Nurseryman of Rochester, NY. Much can be found of him on the internet. He is also listed in many publications that are here with the house.

The home is 20 minutes from Rochester, NY airport and 40 minutes from Buffalo, NY airport. It is located in the Town of Sweden and college town of Brockport State University. It is located in a rural area but only 5 miles from Brockport, NY. Minutes from many universities.
