1880 Falconer Home-Texas Historic Landmark

This home was originally built as the Stafford Military Academy in 1880 and was purchased by the Falconers, a prominent family that moved from Langsdale, Mississippi in 1885. The Falconers converted the academy to a residence and raised their ten children in the house. The home stayed in the Falconer family until the 1970s.

Early newspapers described the Stafford Military Academy and "its bell peal heard for distances." The home was described as being of design "closely related to General Robert E. Lee's Arlington." The Falconer Home has been identified with a Falls County Historical Marker from the State of Texas and has been maintained in excellent condition.

The home is graced with hardwood floors, large rooms and high ceilings. The home was updated five years ago (plumbing, wiring, central heat/air) but maintains most of the original charm and character. There is an efficiency apartment over the garage (formerly a carriage house) and the home sits on 2/3 acre on a quiet residential street. The house is approximately 2300 square feet and features 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a formal dining room, living room and large hall/parlor.
