Historic 1765 Quaker house was part of the Underground Railroad

One of the oldest Quaker-built homes in Moorestown, this house is set back 90 feet from Main Street, creating a desirable and quiet in-town location. Sit on the front porch and enjoy the small town life with the knowledge that the library, Perkins Arts Center, community house and many shopping and dining opportunities are within easy walking distance. This spacious (2404 sq. ft.) "twin" is attached by only one 20 foot wall, making it feel like a single family home. The deep fenced lot (0.33 acre) ends at a wooded area that borders Memorial Field Park and Roberts Elementary School. Tall ceilings, beautiful hardwood floors and original woodwork and cabinets take one back in time, but the large rooms flow easily for today's lifestyle. Other amenities include newer appliances, convenient 2nd floor laundry with high-efficiency washer and dryer, gas heat with radiators, updated wiring and a whole house water filter. The many windows bring in an abundance of light with a bump-out greenhouse window in the dining room. A large finished mudroom adds a practical feature often missing from newer homes. The house color is Mannered Gold, an historic 18th century pigment and the restored shutters are original to the house. This home is recognized by the State of New Jersey as a stop on the Underground Railroad and a portion of the tunnel is still accessible in the basement.
