A Home with History

The original deed for the property was recorded on April 24th, 1924, but the house was built a few years later. The property belonged to Dr. and Mrs. Owen. He was a dentist and had an office in the Citizen's Bank Building in downtown Paducah. His wife Mabel survived him and lived in the home until 1981.

The colonial revival style house displays many details from a bygone era. There's a place in the floor of the family room where a buzzer could be tapped with one's foot alerting house help. There are classic radiators in many rooms, brass light fixtures, glass door-knobs and true divided-light french doors.

Included with the house are several historic items owned by the Owens. These include black and white photographs, a baby dress and shoes worn by Mabel Owen.
