Circa 1803, the Thomas Heyward house, South Carolina signer of the Declaration of Independence. Considered the most beautiful Charleston single house in the city and valuable to the city by "this is Charleston". Listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Magnificent mantels, inlaid mahogany doors, exquisite plaster ceilings, ceiling medallions, and crown moldings. Original heart of pine floors. 14 foot ceilings on first floor, 16 foot ceilings on second. Double piazzas, fully landscaped garden with antique brick, bluestone, cobbled stones, and granite curbing. House renovated 1989-1995. Carriage house has not been restored.
