The appeal of Shadyside has always been strong. It is a 10-20 minute walk to the University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon University, Carnegie Museum of Art and Natural History, Phipps Botanical Conservatory, beautiful and wonderful Schenley Park. In addition, Walnut Street shopping, restaurants and the entertainment district are walking distance. Several churches (Lutheran, Christian Scientist, Anglican, Quaker, Unitarian, Catholic, Presbyterian, Baptist, Orthodox) and Pittsburgh's oldest and most beautiful synagogue are all nearby. This location is centrally located to all the hospitals in the area as well as the new Google office and Rand Corporation. Readily available public transportation is within a half a block. There are several private, parochial and public grade schools and high schools within a 10-20 minute walk.

There are 2 magnificent mature Blue Spruces who act as sentries and provide the porch with privacy from the street. This stately 3 story house appeals to you with a substantial welcoming front porch. A driveway on the left side of the property can hold 3 cars and there is a single car garage. Inside, the entry way there are large rooms with a central carpeted and beamed stair case. The first floor rooms have oak hardwood flooring. These include a paneled study, living room and dinning room which are divided by pocket sliding doors. Each has a large picture window.

There are two furnaces and the house is heated by forced air. The back kitchen door opens onto a small back porch which takes you into a private enclosed safe back yard often used for picnics and relaxation with children and pets.

The second floor has four sizable bed rooms each with a 10 foot ceiling. Each of the four bedrooms has a built in closet. Light is lovely and warms the front rooms in the morning and the back rooms in the afternoon. There is a single bath room and a second Jack & Jill bathroom between the two front room. In the hall there is a large walk-in hall closet, and an enormous linen closet. The third floor has four bedrooms with 10 foot ceilings and another full bathroom. Any of the rooms on this third floor suite could be used an entertainment room, office or exercise room.
There are 5 functional Taylor burners in various rooms. Plus, hook-ups for additional appliances. There is a stone foundation. There are two furnaces and the house is heated by forced air. Storm windows are functional except for the picture windows. Some of the lighting fixtures are original others reflect the taste of the owner. The electric and plumbing systems have been completely up to code.
