History of East Berlin: Founded in 1764. A Prussian immigrant & resident of York County, John Frankenberger, acquired this land from Thomas & Richard Penn. He then named the new community after Berlin in Prussia. East Berlin is well known for its annual Colonial Day, held the second Saturday of each September.
