Situated prominently at the crest of a bluff overlooking Civic Center Park, City Hall, and the beautiful Historic districts of St. Joseph, this original Italianate architectural house features boxed cornices lined with ornamental dentils and carved brackets. Windows and doorways have segmental arched drip moldings with carved keystones and label stops. The interior has wonderful Victorian style moldings and original hardwood floors, pocket doors, original light fixtures and 3 fireplaces of which 2 are ornamental but can be changed. The 3rd one has a pellet stove. The 5 bedrooms all have independent airconditioning, private baths, and Direct TV hookups. The 3rd floor is the master bedroom, bath, retreat area and storage space. The large foyer and living room area is also utilized as a meeting center for businesses, the 2 far walls have pull down screens to use for video projection presentations and a 50" flat screen TV for lap top presentations or just watch a DVD or TV.

Prominent Property in St. Joseph

In 1910 this residence was home to Ernest E.Chase (inventor of the famous "Cherry Mash" candy bar) still made today here in St. Joseph. In 1995 there was a fire due to arson on the third floor and it was red taged for demolition. A young couple bought it and totaly restored it. (plumbing, electrical and interior) Completed in the year 2000 and opened as a B&B in 2001. Updates have been done along the way as needed. New in 2010 is a 35 yr composition shingle and torch down roof. All new exterior paint on all woodwork and trim, new interior paint, all windows and storms have been re-glazed.

This property is the premier property in the Museum Hill Historic District and many articles have been written about it in the "St. Joseph Newspress", "Missouri Life Magazine", "This Old House Magazine" and "American Road Magazine". It has been featured on HGTVs "If Walls Could Talk" episode #2004 "Tasty Treasures". In the LA Times Travel Section 5/16/2010, AAA approved.
