The Parker House !!!

Welcome to The Parker House! This beautiful victorian home has been renovated preserving the home’s rich history. This home is being offered totally furnished with antiques associated with the home. The Parker house was built in 1901 and was purchased by Victor and Orpha Parker. This home was one of two in Telfair that would accommodate a large family. This is one of few homes continuously occupied by members of the same family for over seventy years. In 1997 that tradition ended when Aubry and Katie Stone purchase the home. The Stone’s were committed to preserving this impressive home’s rich history. The exterior has been has been restored to its original pristine condition, while the inside has been gently renovated into a comfortable inn.
Each room of the inn is dedicated to a member of the Parker family with its own distinctive style, A Victorian motif, reminiscent of a by-gone era flows throughout the home.
In the Victor Room, a masculine theme abounds with a subtle touch of oriental flair. The king size bed is actually two twin beds that are original to the house. The dresser and wardrobe are also original pieces. All bedrooms include a modern, in suite bathroom.
Next is the Corrine Room. This room recalls, perhaps, a child with the antique crochet booties displayed in a show box above the bed.
The Carolyn Room is warm and cozy with a rich green and berry décor. The bedroom ensemble was a Christmas gift to Katie from Aubrey several years ago.
The lovely secretary in the hallway is another original Parker House piece. It was restored from its blackened state to expose the wonderful oak wood beneath.
The mirror, sideboard, and armoire in the foyer were handcrafted by Johnny Grace of Lumber City, Georgia. Mr. Grace’s exceptional talent and craftsmanship is further displayed by most of the side tables throughout the home.
Across the foyer is the Corrine Room. It is dominated by beautiful black walnut furniture also made by Johnny Grace. The only description suitable for this room is STATELY!
Next is the Orpha Room. Here is where the matriarch of the Parker family would retire each evening. It contains Mrs. Parker’s original bedroom ensemble.
The Norma Room is daintily and feminine. The bed is new, but all the other furnishings are antique. This room, with its romantic ambience, is referred to as the “Honeymoon Suite”.
The sofa and chairs in the parlor are also original pieces owned by the Parker family. Which have been refurbished to coordinate with the room’s décor and color’s.
The Dining Room ensemble, complete with a china cabinet, was handcrafted by Johnny Grace to compliment this grand room. These impressive pieces are destined to become heirlooms.
The white kitchen is cheerfully accented with glass fronted cabinets and ceramic tile counter tops. The gas stove belonged to Mrs. Manley and is reputed to have kept the family warm during an ice storm when the electricity failed.
The Billie room serves as the office and is the only carpeted room in the house. Most of the hardwood floors throughout the home are original, but during remodeling some of the boards had to be replaced. The replaced heart of pine came from a 100 year old house that was being demolished.
This beautiful home has 6 bedroom and 7 ½ Baths. Whether you want a large home for a large family or want a business opportunity to run your own Inn, this is a great property! McRae is less than 2 miles to the Wallace Adams Golf Course, Telfair/Wheeler Airport and located in central Georgia.
