HISTORIC LOCATION

Conveniently located in New York's Hudson River Valley in picturesque Columbia County, this Historic Dutch Colonial offers views of other fine period homes in the Historic District.

The Historic District in the Village of Kinderhook is on the National Register of Historic Places and is home to many historically significant homes such as this HUDSON VALLEY DUTCH COLONIAL. Within the district, this graceful home sits on a .67 village acre surrounded by mature trees and planting on a peaceful lane among other fine period homes.

The peaceful lane is sometimes referred to as the Knox Trail where in January of 1776; Colonel Henry Knox transported a vital shipment of artillery (44 cannons, 14 mortars and one howitzer) from the captured Fort Ticonderoga 300 miles to the beleaguered City of Boston. He led his hardy band over the frozen Hudson River and snow covered countryside using ox and horse-drawn sledges. On January 9, 1776, Knox drove his train southward (on what is US9/Broad Street) into the Village of Kinderhook. Turning left on Hudson Street they passed No. 15 and crossed the Kinderhook Creek and continued with cannon on to Ghent and easterly to join Gen. Washington at Dorchester Heights. A Knox Trail Marker on the Village Green commemorates this historic event.

Our 8th President, Martin Van Buren was born in his father's public house just down the street and his retirement home, Lindenwald, is now a museum.

Centrally located in the Village, one can easily walk to School, Post Office, Bank, Shops, Cafes and the Saturday Farmers Market.

NYC: 2.5 hrs via the parkway or Amtrak.
Albany: 25min, Lenox: 40min, Boston: 2.75 hrs, Hudson: 20min.

A HISTORIC HOME LOVER'S DREAM at a REASONABLE ASKING PRICE.

PROUDLY OFFERED at $599,000.
