Settled on a knoll amid azaleas, wild blueberry and raspberry bushes, magnolias and grand old oaks “Honey Hill” sits proudly with its stately Greek-Revival columns, fanlighted doorway with bevel leaded glass and classic southern shutters. Originally built by William Franklin Edwards in 1870 from timbers and bricks hand made on the property, this 19th century home has been beautifully restored and maintained and offers all the amenities for 21st century living. As you enter the front door you will instantly be dazzled by the large foyer flanked by the formal living and dining rooms. The central hallway then leads you to the huge country kitchen that opens to a breakfast room and then the huge family room that overlooks the rear veranda. Upstairs you will find three grand scale guest bedrooms each with large storage closets and grand scale master suite complete with fireplace, his and hers bathrooms, and walk-in closet. This home is truly in amazing condition having been painstakingly restored by its previous owners. This home features 5 working fireplaces all with formal original mantels, impressive original moldings, oversized windows filled with sunlight, wide plank heart of pine floors, and tall 10’ ceilings on both 1st and 2nd floors. The kitchen features beautiful new cherry wood cabinets, granite counters, double ovens, walk-in pantry complete with sink and space for a 2nd refrigerator and a large breakfast room that also opens to the rear veranda. All bathrooms have been beautifully renovated with new vanities and fixtures and all systems have been replaced and modernized. The home sits on a beautiful 10 acres divided between open pastures, mature landscaping and private woods and is located just 35 minutes from downtown Atlanta and just moments from Historic Covington Square with its wonderful specialty shops and restaurants. This home truly is a piece of southern history.
