more info on home
At one time, many years ago, this house was used for an antique shoppe. Now, years later, as time has moved forward, this building of the past is still standing and waiting for that "special someone" to restore it back to its original beauty.
Known as the A. G. Peeler House, it was the home the Mr.Peeler built for his bride in the days when there were still horse-drawn carriages.
This house has certainly seen better days, however, it features classic lines and offers just what you may have been looking for. If you've considered a commercial venture, it would be ideal for a business on the downstairs level and personal living quarters could be located on the upstairs level. Zoned General Business (B-6), this building is suitable for any number of things, including an antique shop, attorney offices, retail business, etc. There could certainly be a potential business opportunity here.
Extensive rehabilitation is needed in this 3 bedroom, 2 bath home including, but not limited to, all new plumbing, electrical, and HVAC. The roof has been replaced in recent years and it appears to be sound. Located on an intown lot of .21+/-acre and facing North Main Street, it is on a narrow, however deep lot with parking access at the rear of the property via 2 deeded right-of-ways from two different streets.
There are many original features intact. You'll find French doors, hardwood flooring, six-paneled doors, picture moldings, arched doorways, transoms, and built-ins. There's a handsome leaded-glass oval window at the foot of the stairway and leaded-glass in some of the remaining bookcases. Ceramic tiles remain surrounding some of the many original fireplaces that still retain their mantels.
