The Hayes House
• Beautiful Queen Anne Victorian home, originally built in 1890 by retired Morganton, NC, merchant Ogden Edmondson, was sold to Henry and Lucinda Hayes in the late 1800s and ever after know as "The Hayes House". It was fully restored in 1996 to include all new roof, wiring, plumbing, HVAC, kitchen and baths.• Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Western North Carolina, in the delightful resort town of Blowing Rock, The Hayes House has the distinction of being the town's most famous and beloved home.
• Operated for many years by the Hayes’ as a summer boarding house for the privileged set, the Hayes House holds a special place in the hearts and memories of many a Blowing Rock summer resident. The most famous of these residents being Margaret Mitchell who spent a summer at the Hayes House while writing “Gone With The Wind”.
• Saved from the wrecking ball with only minutes to spare by the Blowing Rock Historical Society in 1993, The Hayes House has been fully and beautifully restored with curly poplar wainscoting, customized trimwork, white pine floors, stained glass windows and beadboard walls and ceilings.
