Jackson, Michigan was the birthplace of the Republican Party. The Jackson Historic District initially was home to Judges, Lawyers, Doctors, and the elite. As evident by the local cemetary, a good deal of the former owners were Jewish with such names as Rosenfeld, Cohen, Levy, and Weinberg. Prime real estate property in its day, featuring a vast amount of outstanding & unique architectural Victorian homes such as Queen Anne, Greek Revival, Second Empire, & Eastlake to name just a few with mahogany, teakwood, and walnut throughout. No amount of expense was spared to create parallel housing with outstanding carriage homes to mimick the surroundings in richness. You will find massive solid, rich carved walnut doors with superb craftmanship, ornately plaster medallions throughout, extensive & intricate plaster mouldings & wall trim in the main quarters, as well as elaborate soapstone fireplaces to name just a few amenities. To duplicate such grandeur would cost $3 million to $7 million American dollars today.Queen Anne homes are characterized by turrets, 60 ft. tower, asymmetry detailing, bay windows, outcropping gables, and a light airy detail to architecture.
