Every year since 1971, preservationists around the country have joined together in May to celebrate National Historic Preservation Week. The National Trust initiated Preservation Week as a way to showcase grassroots preservation activity in communities nationwide. This year, Historic Charlotte has again partnered with the Charlotte Historic District Commission to organize Preservation Week in Charlotte, NC. This house is the 2004 Best New Construction Winner.

New Construction
The original house (1956) was demolished down to the foundation and a new two story house was constructed. Materials include cedar siding on first floor and cedar shingles on second floor, wood windows, dry stacked stone foundation and chimney and asphalt roof shingles. Details include overhanging eaves with exposed rafter tails, cedar lattice vent in gables and a new entry door with gable covering on the left elevation. The guest house was resided with cedar shingles and the foundation was covered with dry stacked stone veneer to match house. New stone sidewalk and stairs were constructed in front of the house.Comments & Feedback
