History

Civil War General Thomas 'Stonewall' Jackson was the great uncle of Jackson ARNOLD who built this town mansion in 1909. An attorney and banker, Arnold was active in the VA and WV legislatures and founded the WV State Police. He lost the house in bankruptcy in 1929. The property is situated across the river from the Trans Allegheny Lunatic Asylum, the largest hand cut stone building in the Americas. Built in 1853 and on the National Register it is well known for its Ghost Tours and other events.
