The original house was built circa1870 by a prominent businessman in the thriving city of Troy, NY. Over the years additional and upgrades were made. The house went through several owners, including Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Each of the owners was prominent in the Troy society; each contributing to the maintenance and improvement of the property. The current owner has upgraded the mechanicals replacing the furnace providing steam heat within the last 10 years.
The house is stunning: large and gracious rooms o the first floor with a service area separated by gorgeous original doors. Each room can be isolated by windowed French doors. the second floor features 3 large bedrooms plus an oversized Master; two additional bedrooms with adjoining full bath in the "service" area. The third floor offers 5 rooms, three for storage but could easily be finished and two that were used at one time as bedrooms but are currently utilized for storage. The grounds are lovely; a side yard offers grassy play area; the adjoining lot provides a driveway to the back of the property.

History

1870's : Original House constructed I the Queen Anne Style
1890's: Property Expanded in the back by new owners
Early 1900's: Colonial Revival features added
1925: New owners who became RPI President
1947-1970: Owned by RPI and used as offices, Fraternity, Women's Club
1970-1992: Restoration of home back to a single family home
1992- present. Current owners - above ground pool added with heater; new furnace and water heater; remodeled kitchen
