The Temple House
The courtyard area opens to a garden space that reflects the courtyard with reclaimed paving stone walkways. A Koi pond that is backed by a double arch stucco wall creates a focal point for this private oasis. The yard is divided into private unique garden spaces, but there are also two large open grassed areas that would accommodate a pool complex or a large party or recreation area. The home has a separate two-story garage building with a second-floor apartment/man-cave/she-shed/ studio. The area was originally used as Mr. Temple’s office/studio. The last restorations of the electrical system and the clay tile roof were done in 1994, however, the property has been well maintained. The clay tile roof needs maintenance, but several squares of matching barrel tiles, which are the primary cost of repairs for this roof, are include in the price of the home.
The Temple House is one of the few individually listed historic properties in Salisbury, NC. Because of this recognition, the property receives a 50% tax credit yearly. Additional tax credits are available from the state of NC for restoration projects. There are no restrictive covenants on the interior of the home. Though we think it is perfect as it is, the new owner can make interior changes to suit their lifestyle.
The house is currently on the NC study list for National Historic Register recognition. The NHR paperwork needs to be completed and submitted. We are happy to speak with anyone about the property.
