The Sullivan House

An elegant trifecta of Architecture, History and Gardens in a private pastoral setting on Greenwood’s finest estate home and grounds! Everything about this property is unique. It was built by a Charleston family in Anderson, S.C. in 1859 as a summer home but probably never used due to the outbreak of the Civil War. It features distinctive architecture referred to as “Chinese Chippendale,” so called for the steeply pitched roofs with flared eaves and the intricately patterned porch railings and columns reminiscent of 18th century “Chinese-style”. The house has been identified as one of only five remaining houses of this style in S.C.
