Cobblestone preserved and updated
This Historic Cobblestone has been maintained by preservation minded owner. Electrical and plumbing systems have been improved and updated while original components have been preserved. House has original sash and doors, mouldings, hard wood floors, 18th century style cooking fireplace and beehive oven. Written, oral and physical history has been researched. Property has been nominated for National Historic Register.This particular home has been featured in a number of books on historic stuctures and in "A History of Seneca County 1876"
Several rooms may be used for multiple purposes. Additional unfinished sections of basement and attic provide future potential.
Cobblestone Structures were built in a limited region of New York From the 1820's to the 1860's The facades are constructed of palm-sized rounded stones with finely crafted and decorated joints of lime-based mortar between courses. The Intererior faces are typically of mortared field stone. Between the exterior and interior faces is rubble wall often exceeding a foot in thickness.
