More About This House
This house has been beautifully maintained and updated in period style. According to local history buffs, this house was built in 1907 by V.A. Griffith, who was a local mortician. Griffith's deceased clients were embalmed elsewhere and brought to this home for viewing and funeral services with up to three viewings occurring at one time. The ground floor of the home still has 3 outside entrances to rooms that could be partitioned off to allow for multiple viewings.
In the 1960's, the house changed hands and became a private family residence. Many of the Victorian features of the home remain including leaded glass original windows, high ceilings, plaster walls, beautiful woodwork, and restored hardwood floors. The intact stable doors from the original stable remain on the 4-car converted garage.
The present owners have lovingly maintained the house. The kitchen has been re-wired with ground fault interceptors (GFI's) and a new breaker box. 15 amp arc fault interrupters were added in 2017. New counter tops, solid oak cupboards, sink, appliances, and flooring were added in 2009. The entire house was re-plumbed with PEX. A new roof and guttering were added in 2018 and the north and west siding replaced. Every part on the 90% efficient furnace has been replaced. A new 40-gallon Rheem water heater was added in 2018. The back yard was fenced in 2014 with vinyl fencing and underground sprinklers installed. The attic has been partially remodeled in anticipation of a large open recreation, hobby, or family room.
