The John Theisen House

The John Theisen House, referred to as the "Old Homestead" in abstracts, is a good example of the solid dwelling erected by prosperous farmers in southeastern Michigan in the third quarter of the 19th century. Enjoy this house's Italianate CHARM circa 1857 with the comforts of 2007: Updated hot water tank, plumbing, wiring, interiors & landscaping. Architectural details include original hardware on upstairs doors, original pegged pine floors in the living room & upstairs, a wraparound porch & more! Two antique out-buildings are also included: a 3-car "carriage" garage and an antique summer kitchen. Every room is a unique pleasure. Enjoy every season in the park-like setting with the great privacy of .57 acres. A perfect home for those who enjoy antiques, history, and fairytales.

Architectural Details:
* The windows present masonry sills and segmental-arch hoods created by projecting brick courses, devices repeated in a small gable window beneath the plain eaves.
* The house alludes to a more cultivated taste in references to Italianate style in its window treatment.
* The side elevations repeat the elements of the facade but the east elevation presents a chimney flue that post-dates the original construction.
* This variant of a gabled ell type dwelling displays a cross-gabled roof and a hipped roof entry porch tucked into the ell.
* The porch, which shelters a side-hall entry, displays Colonial Revival elements and appears to be a period alteration.

Located in the arguably most thriving, cultured, and entertaining area of Michigan: Southeast Michigan. This house has a great location in the economically-growing city of Warren. Warren now features a new and expanding Warren Tech Center, which has a new City Square, Courthouse, City Hall, Library, and more (http://cityofwarren.org). Warren, Michigan, also has its own Historic Village.
