More About This House

The home is in superior condition with modern upgrades, yet maintains the original beauty of its time. Complete with original hardwood floors and trim, 10-ft. ceilings, tall windows and spacious rooms make this a comfortable and stunning home.

The original farm of 600+ acres was developed in the 80s and is now known as Phelps Acres, a beautiful neighborhood in a fantastic location just a few miles from Lake Cumberland. The county airport as well as golf course are near, making it an ideal location for a Bed & Breakfast as well as a vacation home.

Phelps family, early settlers of Kentucky with Daniel Boone

Shadrach and Celia Phelps settled on this property in the Esto community of Jamestown, Kentucky in 1798 after having resided at Fort Boonesborough with Daniel Boone to aid in the settlement of Kentucky. Shadrach's father, John Phelps was also at the fort.

A two-story log home was originally built on the property next to the natural spring which still exists.

The existing frame home was built in 1875 by John Quincy Phelps and wife Nancy Jane. The home was updated in the 1960s with the current columns and front veranda.

Many renovations and upgrades have been made by family members since.
