HISTORIC DETAILS OF

The exact date Mill Hill was built is not known, there are conflicting viewpoints. In the annals it was called " a very old home, of uncertain date". Some people even say that it could be one of the oldest timber framed homes remaining in Virginia, but we simply don't know.

So it could have been built in the 17th century
"MILL HILL" is surrounded by historic Toddsbury Plantation, which is under Conservation Easement.
The oldest part of Toddsbury was probably built in 1658 and then enlarged and updates in 1735. Some historians believe that "MILL HILL" was the first building on Toddsbury Plantation, because it wsa built on a high spot.
Whatever the truth may be, the central part of the house is very old. It was the Millers' home, ans he Tide Mill was located there.

MILL HILL WAS first restored by a direct descendant of the Todds of Toddsbury in the 1960'S and then a historical renovator from PA added seamlessly 2 wings on the house in the 1990'S. He also built the barns according to the specifications of historic colonial barns.

HILL MILL was also called Morven in the latter days.

It is mentioned on the Gloucester County VA list of historic buildings.
