Home fronts Main Street (National Road).
Kitchen is 12.5 x 20, with two exposed log walls, refinished period floors. Appliances new in 2003.
We decorated the parlor as a victorian parlor. Some furnishings may be available for separate sale
This image appeared in Harpers Weekly in October, 1862. Our home is the one on the right. Story of the house after the Battle of South Mountain told in "The Boys Who Fought at Home" published in 1891 by Lt. Henry Minnigh, who stayed in the house briefly after his wounding.
11.5 x 16, 9-foot ceilings. Addition constructed in late 2006. Walk in closet and wall closet too! New bathroom just beyond door in hall.
11.5 x 14 second floor bonus room. New carpet in 2007. Two bedrooms are accessed via this room. Could be partitioned for a fourth bedroom. Has made a nice office/playroom/tv room for us.
Large dining room. If you are satisfied with the eat in kitchen for eating space, this room was used by a former owner as a first floor family room
New deck, constructed in February, 2007.
Mounted on front porch foundation, plaque tells passers by the story of "Appleman's Tannery"
The view from the front porch. Building with 3 story porch near center (former Methodist Church) and large white church were used by the Union Army as field hospitals in 1862.
