Historic Hotel Booth - Independence, Kansas

The Hotel Booth. Originally opened in late January of 1912, it was a grand statement of elegant style. Beautiful hand-laid ceramic tile floors. Intricately carved plaster cornices. Dazzling crystal chandeliers. Stately marble, brass and solid oak embellishments. Now many decades later, it has been restored to its original elegance.

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in Washington, D. C. It features 20 luxury apartments, two retail spaces, complete banquet facilities with a crystal ballroom. There is a 5-story glass atrium and multiple meeting rooms.

Apartments are 1,100 - 1,800 square feet with full kitchens and appliances. The full bath in each apartment is very roomy and boasts a jacuzzi tub, pedestal sink and ceramic flooring and wall tile. The larger floor plans include a half-bath as well. The open, airy living areas and bedrooms have large windows giving residents beautiful views of Independence. Some apartments also have sliding doors from bedroom and living area with sizable patios. Private covered parking is also a privilage of residents. Each apartment is total electric, with individual water source heat pump and water heaters.

The hotel lobby has been restored to its 1912 opening-day grandeur. The gorgeous wood-revolving door, originally created in 1909 by the Atchison Revolving Door Company of Independence, boasts its initial beauty. Ceramic tiles were brought over by Italy and individually laid to restore the handsomely patterned tile floor. This slow meticulous attention to detail has created an atmosphere that makes you feel as if you've walked into a page of history.

This property is in the home town of Cessna Aircraft Single Engine and Mustang Jet facility and the near by plant for Cobalt Boats.
