Guest and Master houses across from last James River locks and lime kiln. Terrific water access and wonderful wood work (walnut solid doors, wide pine floors, matched stair rails). Living room has fireplace insert Vermont casting stove. Master house is partially furnished, with a few antiques and a few garden tools.

Wonderful clear deep well water supplies both and each has separate septic systems. Guest house plumbed and wired, has radiators set for oil furnace. Master house updated with heat pump; 220 circuit in both. Both houses well maintained with tin roofs, wood siding. Cell phone monitored fire and burglar system for both houses and garage. All around amazing gardens and land with wonderful walking path by river with small private dock. Very private, but 20 min from I81 (no back roads), 40 min to Roanoke, downtown. On private state maintained road with 2 quiet neighbors almost in view. Land is all mowed and usable including large (approx. 40x60ft) doubly high double heavy wire fenced garden, that can serve as pen for dogs or horse.

Master House (2300 sq feet), 4 bedrooms, den, 1.5 bath, large kitchen with large fridge, gas stove/oven, new quiet dishwasher, antique mahogany table and chairs. Large dining area with classic soapstone fireplace, floor to ceiling window overlooking James River, Large living room also with floor to ceiling (high) windows Separate washer/dryer room off entry/kitchen. Master house is two floors with beautiful wooden steps and baluster rails matched to wainscot in foyer. Wide plank original refinished pine floors. A covered porch surrounds 2/3 of the house.

Guest house (1479 sq ft plus full unfinished basement; 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, office, kitchen, Dining Room, Work Room) was originally furniture factory, then community center, then doctor’s office and finally guest house. Has dropped ceiling, nice oak floors, carpeted very large bedroom overlooking river and office/nursery off large central living area. Windows are very large, custom, replaced in 1990s. Smallish updated bathroom with tiled shower. Small dining room and good size eat in kitchen with appliances including electric stove and large refrigerator. Basement is very high ceiling and would make great wood work shop. Heat is high efficiency oil burner; very cool in summer but would be simple basement install if wanted heat pump.
