Pioneer Homestead
Pioneer home which has been continously by the same family. Part of the original log cabin is still standing. The entrance was the original porch. The living room was the first building. The dining room was a lean-to kitchen. A niche in the dining room wall was an early pantry. Some of the original wood is still in place. The two story addition was completed in the 1900's. The area between the two story building and the original structure was a "dog trot" area and is now the kitchen and a bath room. The home was remodeled in 1958 and a den added. The smoke house was built in 1919. It has been modernized with new plumbing and central heat & air. An old cypress cistern and an inoperative windmill stand beside the patio.Archived in June, 2012
