Beachley Home - White House Inn
Surrounded by park land and farms, the historic Beachley House, circa 1792, is located on the National Road at the base of South Mountain. Also known as the “White House Inn” this home and tavern hosted notable guests such as Daniel Webster, Henry Clay and Gen. Lafayette. During the Civil War this home served as a waypoint for General McClellan as his army advanced during the battle of South Mountain. Much of the original interior woodwork and fireplace mantel pieces remain intact. Recent improvements include improved and upgraded electric, plumbing and heating systems and replace roof. History abounds in the tavern room, parlor and bedrooms of this special home. Become a steward for a piece of American history.
