A piece of History

In 1834 John Lyon built this large limestone mansion near a good spring in the heart of Central Pennsylvania. Three generations of the Lyon's family lived here until 1910. For a period after that it was operated as a country club, a boarding house and later used for private parties and dances.

The 28 room mansion has gracious fireplaces of black marble, open stairways, huge bedrooms and baths. Flower gardens, shrubs and trees surround the property and a picnic pavillion now stands where the old grist mill once stood. Water from a 5 acre pond winds down the spillway and through the estate on its curving journey to the Juniata River at Spruce Creek Village. This is also the place former President Jimmy Carter has come to fool some trophy sized trout.
