Currently a successful B&B- The possibilities are endless!

Would you like to live in a charming community and start savoring the passage of time? This is a one of a kind opportunity to enjoy gracious living in a magnificently restored historic property in a perfect setting! This ornate cream brick Italianate has undergone a painstaking 9-year restoration. No expense spared in the exhaustive restoration. Currently a successful B&B. Turn key opportunity with all furnishings (inventory negotiable). Endless possibilities for an elegant wedding venue, gallery, studio, office, or an exciting new business venture!

The year was 1865; the nation was mourning the loss of Abraham Lincoln, an eighteen-year-old boy named Edison was launching his career, and an enterprising barrel cooper from Milwaukee named William Thompson journeyed to Mazomanie and began building his stately home.

Financed by success with the Mazomanie Flour Mill, Thompson constructed an impressive Italianate home complete with an ornate wraparound verandah, eight-sided porch columns and scrolled brackets, second-story balcony, and widow's walk cupola. To impress business associates and peers, Thompson installed a beautiful curving staircase in the foyer, southern yellow pine floors in the parlor, and plenty of ornamental plasterwork. An extensive photographic record (original 1873 glass plate negatives are available) shows that today this home appears the same as it did in 1865!

Situated one block from the historic downtown of Mazomanie, Wisconsin where extensive efforts in preservation and restoration by the local community have created an idyllic setting for eclectic shops, galleries, and restaurants. Located just 25 minutes from the Middleton/Madison area (consistently listed as one of the top places in the nation to live) and convenient to Spring Green, American Players Theater, and Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin.
