Lake Family Home

This 1894 Victorian/Farmhouse was built by the Lake family. It was originally on 17 acres of farmland. The original builder, Charles Sheppard, was a significant local figure, who came to this area of New Jersey back in the 1890s as a young carpenter. The home was built from house plans by architect S.B. Reed, as featured in American Agriculturist Magazine, the farmer's trade magazine of the 1800's. There is a full basement, part of which is a Yankee Cellar, a circular basement made of bricks. There are some built in cabinets, 9 foot high ceilings on the first floor and hardwood flooring throughout. All windows have their original wood trim intact.

This home is a short 15 minute drive to the beaches of Ocean City, and 45 minutes from the Philadelphia area. It is also located in an excellent school district, and within minutes of local stores, and areas of historic interest.
